Well hello there, good people! Howe Weird here, pull up a comfy chair, or at least take a load off your feet for a spell. Got a tale for you today that just goes to show, sometimes folks get a little… creative… when it comes to settling up their tab.
Now, most of us, when we roll up to a drive-thru window, we’ve got our payment all figured out, right? Credit card, some crisp bills, maybe even a gift card if you’re feeling fancy. But down in Spring Hill, Florida, seems like one fellow had a slightly different idea about what constitutes legal tender for a fast-food meal.
The folks at a local McDonald’s there had to give the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office a ring not too long ago. Seems they had a complaint about a driver, and when a deputy rolled up, he heard quite the story from the employees. They told him that a young man, later identified as 19-year-old Anthony Garcia, had attempted to pay for his order with, well, a bag of marijuana. Now, I’ve heard of bartering, but I don’t think ‘green’ is on McDonald’s list of accepted currencies.
The deputy, naturally, went to have a chat with Mr. Garcia. And, wouldn’t you know it, he noticed a mighty strong scent of marijuana wafting from the vehicle. That’s usually a pretty good indicator that something’s not quite right. After a little investigation, Mr. Garcia found himself under arrest. He was charged with possession of marijuana, driving under the influence, and for good measure, not having proof of insurance.
It’s a reminder, I suppose, to keep your finances straight and your wits about you, especially when you’re out and about.
