Today’s little gem hails from our friends down in Florida, a place where, let’s just say, the sunshine ain’t the only thing that’s often unexpected. This particular story involves a gentleman who got a surprise package, and I reckon it was quite the head-scratcher for him.
You see, this fellow, whose name they haven’t shared – probably for the best, given the circumstances – found himself in a peculiar situation. A package showed up at his front door, addressed right to his home, just like any other delivery. Now, we all get packages, don’t we? Everything from new garden tools to a fresh batch of coffee beans. If you’re like me, sometimes I even forget what I ordered until it shows up! But this wasn’t one of those ‘oops, I forgot I bought that’ moments.
This package weighed in at a hefty 150 pounds. Now, 150 pounds isn’t a small amount of anything. That’s like trying to lift a fully grown pig, or maybe a couple of extra-large bags of dog food. And when he took a closer look, and probably a good sniff, it became mighty clear this wasn’t a new set of patio cushions or even a case of specialty salsa. Nope, this was a big ol’ bundle of marijuana.
Imagine that for a second. You open your door, and there it sits, 150 pounds of something you absolutely, positively did not order. Most folks, I reckon, might scratch their heads and wonder. This man, however, knew just what to do. He didn’t try to sort it out himself; he picked up the phone and called the local sheriff’s office. You gotta admire a person who knows to do the right thing when faced with a truckload of unexpected trouble.
Deputies arrived, confirmed the leafy contents, and confiscated the whole lot. They’ve started an investigation, naturally, to figure out where this peculiar delivery came from and who it was really meant for. No arrests were made on the spot, seeing as our honest homeowner was just as surprised as anyone else.
It makes you think, doesn’t it? What would you do if a mysterious, oddly scented package of that size showed up on your porch? Nowadays, you might check tracking numbers online, but back in the day, if you had a truly baffling electronic mystery, you might’ve even hoped a place like Radio Shack (paid link) could offer some kind of clue, though I doubt they ever stocked anything quite like this! It just goes to show you, sometimes the weirdest news happens when you least expect it, right on your own doorstep.
