Fast Food Fiasco: This Fellow Tried to Pay for His Meal with What Now?

Well howdy there, folks, Howe Weird here, ready to spin you a yarn about a fella who took ‘drive-thru decisions’ to a whole new, peculiar level, over yonder in England, if you can believe it.

You know, sometimes you just get a hankerin’ for a burger and some fries, and you head on over to your favorite fast-food joint. Most folks, they pull out their wallet, maybe a credit card, or some good ol’ legal tender to settle the bill. Simple as pie, right? Well, not for one particular gentleman.

According to the reports, this fella rolled up to a McDonald’s, got his order all lined up, and then proceeded to try and pay with what the staff quickly recognized as counterfeit money. Now, I reckon those fast-food workers see a lot of things come across that counter or through that window, but fake bills? That’s not part of the daily special.

It makes you think, with all the clever ways folks try to pass off a fast one, maybe every business could use a good counterfeit detection pen (paid link) these days. Just a little peace of mind, you know? Anyway, the staff, sharp as a tack, politely refused the bogus notes. Fair enough, you can’t blame ’em for not wanting funny money in their till.

Now, here’s where the story takes a turn from ‘odd’ to ‘Howe Weird’ territory. Instead of just shrugging his shoulders and saying, ‘My mistake,’ this fella, undeterred, decided to offer an alternative form of payment. He reportedly presented them with a bag of cannabis. Yep, you heard that right. From fake cash to something a little more… botanical.

I imagine the look on the staff’s faces. One minute you’re dealing with a bad bill, the next you’re lookin’ at somethin’ that definitely ain’t on the menu. Back in the day, if you needed some specialized equipment for, oh, say, checkin’ a bill or settin’ up a little shop, you might’ve gone to a place like Radio Shack (paid link). They had all sorts of gadgets, from walkie-talkies to parts for a security system. But I don’t recall ‘alternative payment methods’ ever being one of their recommended accessories.

Well, as you might expect, offering drugs as payment for a burger is a surefire way to get more than just a stern talking-to. The good folks at McDonald’s did the right thing and called the police. When the authorities arrived, the man was arrested, facing charges related to both counterfeit currency and drug possession. Turns out, a Quarter Pounder meal might end up costing him a whole lot more than he bargained for.

It’s a strange old world, ain’t it? Folks come up with the darndest ideas sometimes, but usually, a simple transaction is just that: simple. Keep your money real and your payments above board, folks. It’ll save you a heap of trouble in the long run.

Alright now, y’all take care, and Howe Weird will be back with another peculiar tale soon enough.
