Howdy, friends, Howe Weird here, and today’s Comedy Week lesson comes from Vermont, where several sheep apparently decided they needed to inspect the new school facilities before homeroom. Pip says he admires their commitment to education, though he suspects they were only auditing grass maintenance.
According to UPI, a flock of sheep escaped from their enclosure and wandered over to the grounds of the new Burlington High School and Burlington Technical Center. Photos taken by Ryan Tise and shared by the Burlington School District showed the woolly visitors strolling around like they had transfer papers and a locker assignment.
The district joked online that “EVERYONE wants to get a look” at the new school. That is a fine public relations line, because if sheep are touring your campus uninvited, you may as well call it community interest.
The animals were later determined to have escaped from the nearby Episcopal Diocese. Staff rounded them up and returned them home, presumably before they could enroll in agriculture, cafeteria science, or advanced hallway wandering. Pip says if sheep had school subjects, “standing in groups and judging people silently” would be an honors class.
What makes this one so funny is how peaceful it sounds. No dramatic rescue, no high-speed chase, no villain. Just sheep taking a field trip without permission. Around here, that is the kind of rebellion that still says “excuse me” before eating the landscaping.
If you have your own four-legged escape artists, a solid farm gate latch or livestock fence repair supplies might save you from explaining why your animals are attending algebra. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
Pip’s Take: “If the sheep got detention, I hope it involved fresh clover.”
