Florida Man’s ‘Playful’ Pet Alligator Sends Mail Carrier to the ER
I’m Howe Weird and here’s another one you can’t make up. Down in Pensacola, Florida, a fellow by the name of Robert “Bobby” Jenkins, all of 52 years old, found himself in a heap of trouble this past Tuesday. Seems his pet alligator, “Snappy,” decided it was time for a stroll. Now, when I say “stroll,” I mean it apparently slithered right out of its enclosure and made a beeline for the mail carrier.
Brenda Miller, a postal worker just doing her route, was delivering to Jenkins’ place when Snappy, a six-foot American alligator, reportedly emerged from some overgrown brush in the backyard. Before she knew it, that big critter latched onto her leg. I tell you, you think you’ve seen it all, and then you hear about an alligator taking a bite out of the mail. Ms. Miller, bless her heart, ended up with non-life-threatening injuries and got treated at the local hospital. Glad to hear she’s alright, all things considered.
Animal control officers showed up, wrestled Snappy into submission – probably wasn’t “just playing” then – and carted him off to a wildlife sanctuary. Mr. Jenkins, on the other hand, faces charges for keeping an unlawful animal and a bit of negligence for good measure. He told the authorities Snappy was “just playing.” Well, I reckon Brenda Miller might have a different definition of “playing.” Neighbors apparently weren’t too surprised, having heard unusual noises from his property often enough. Makes you wonder what else he had stashed back there.
Now, if you’re lookin’ to secure your own yard, maybe keep out critters a little smaller than an alligator, or just tidy up your outdoor space, you might find some really useful gadgets and tools over at Temu. Folks tell me they got all sorts of handy things for keeping your property just how you like it. But for gators, I reckon you just need a better fence. Stay weird, folks!
