Nutty About Burgers: Florida Man Tries Squirrel-Payment Scheme
I’m Howe Weird and here’s another one you can’t make up. Down in Florida, a place known for its… unique characters, things took a turn at a drive-thru last week that even seasoned fast-food workers probably weren’t expecting. Apparently, a fellow by the name of Leroy Jenkins, 34, pulled up to the window, ready to place an order, but when it came time to pay for his burger, he presented something a little different than cash or card.
Leroy reportedly tried to use a live squirrel as payment. Yes, you heard that right, a squirrel. Now, the cashier, bless their heart, probably thought it was a joke at first, but when Leroy got agitated that his “unique emotional value” squirrel, which he called “Nutty,” wasn’t being accepted as legal tender, that’s when things got a bit squirrelly themselves. Seems Nutty was meant to cover the cost of a combo meal.
Authorities were called, and they found Mr. Jenkins still arguing his case for Nutty’s monetary worth. He ended up charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest, which, honestly, seems about right when you’re trying to pay for dinner with wildlife. The good news is, Nutty the squirrel was later released into a nearby park, probably none the wiser about his brief career as a form of currency.
Now, I’m not saying you can find everything on there, but if Leroy was looking for a more conventional way to carry cash, or maybe just a little travel carrier for Nutty that wouldn’t get him into trouble, he might have better luck browsing somewhere like Temu. It’s got all sorts of gadgets and gizmos, probably even a squirrel-sized wallet if you look hard enough! You just never know what you’ll find, but I can guarantee it’s more accepted than a live rodent at the drive-thru.
