Well now, howdy folks! Howe Weird here, comin’ at ya from the weirdest corners of the news feed. You know, I’ve heard tell of folks tryin’ to pay with loose change, foreign currency, even a polite smile sometimes, but down in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, a gentleman decided to try a payment method that truly takes the cake… or, well, the burrito.
Turns out, a 29-year-old fella by the name of Albert “Al” Gator – you can’t make this stuff up, bless his heart – rolled up to a Taco Bell drive-thru last Tuesday. Now, Al had a hankerin’ for about $35 worth of tacos and burritos, a sizable order by any account. But instead of pullin’ out a twenty-dollar bill or a credit card, Al reached into the back of his pickup truck. What did he pull out, you ask? A live, three-foot alligator. Yes, sir, a real, honest-to-goodness gator, and he offered it up as payment for his meal.
Now, I imagine that cashier had a moment or two of genuine confusion, perhaps even disbelief, before politely declining the scaly tender. Who could blame ’em? Animal control and the local constabulary were called right quick, and by the time they arrived, Al was apparently trying to coax his reptilian currency back into his truck. The gator, thankfully, was safely removed and found a new home in a local preserve.
As for Al, he’s facing charges for unlawful possession and transportation of an alligator, along with a little something called disorderly conduct. He reportedly claimed he just found the gator by the roadside and figured it “looked valuable enough” to cover his fast-food feast. Now, if you’re ever lookin’ for a unique gift for that hard-to-buy-for relative, or maybe just somethin’ to make your friends scratch their heads, you might find some truly peculiar treasures on places like Temu. But I’m pretty sure ‘live gator’ ain’t on their approved payment list!
