Picture this: It’s early Saturday mornin’, around 3 AM, down in Wise County, Texas. The highway’s probably pretty quiet, not much traffic. Then, out of the darkness, a golf cart appears. Yep, a golf cart, chuggin’ along on U.S. 81/287 – a state highway, no less! Now, bless his heart, the 30-year-old fella behind the wheel probably thought he was just havin’ a grand old time, but the law’s pretty clear: golf carts and state highways don’t mix, especially when you’ve had a few too many.
Police spotted this unusual sight and, naturally, pulled him over. It didn’t take long for them to suspect he wasn’t exactly sober. After a field sobriety test – which, as you might guess, he didn’t pass with flying colors – he was arrested for driving while intoxicated. That’s a DWI, for those of you keepin’ score.
Now, I reckon this fella probably wasn’t plannin’ on his evening ending with a police escort. Maybe he was just tryin’ to get home, or maybe he was on a really long putt. Either way, it’s a good reminder that those little golf carts are meant for the course or the neighborhood, not cruisin’ alongside eighteen-wheelers.
