A Feathered Fiasco at the Drive-Thru: When Poultry Becomes Payment
I’m Howe Weird and here’s another one you can’t make up. Down in Florida, a place known for its… unique events, a fellow decided his dinner plans needed a touch of live poultry. We’re talking about a gentleman who reportedly tried to pay for his fast-food order with a live chicken.
According to the folks who were there, 32-year-old Gary Jenkins rolled up to the drive-thru window at a Chicken Coop restaurant in Ocala. Instead of a credit card or cash, he presented a squawking chicken, insisting it was “good for the meal.” Now, I reckon the cashier wasn’t expecting livestock on the menu, least of all as payment. The employees, understandably bewildered, weren’t quite sure how to process that kind of transaction, and when Mr. Jenkins refused to take his feathered friend and move along, they called the local authorities.
When officers arrived, they found Jenkins still at the window, engaged in what one might call a spirited negotiation with the chicken in hand. After a brief struggle, he was charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. The chicken, thankfully, was unharmed through all this kerfuffle and eventually handed over to animal control.
Now, if Mr. Jenkins was just a bit short on cash, he might’ve been better off with a reliable wallet, or maybe even a little portable charger for his phone so he could use a payment app. You know, something practical. You can find all sorts of handy bits and bobs, from organizers to sensible wallets, over on Temu. Might save you from a feathered predicament and a chat with the local constabulary.
Folks, sometimes you just gotta shake your head and wonder what folks are thinkin’. While creativity is a wonderful thing, I reckon it’s best kept out of the drive-thru payment line. Stay weird, but maybe keep the livestock out of the transaction.
