Australian Woman Finds 10-Foot Python in Her Toilet

Well now, howdy folks, and a fine day to you wherever you might be! Gather ’round, because ol’ Howe Weird has got a tale from down under that’s sure to make you check your porcelain throne a little closer tonight. We’re heading all the way to Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, where a morning bathroom trip turned into a genuine wildlife encounter for a woman named Helen Richards.

Picture this: It’s early in the morning, and Helen is just minding her own business, visiting relatives. She steps into the bathroom, perhaps still rubbing the sleep from her eyes, and notices something… unusual in the toilet bowl. Her first thought was that it was just a “brown mess.” Now, folks, I’ve seen some things in a toilet, but “brown mess” is usually a temporary visitor. This one, however, had eyes!

Turns out, that “brown mess” was no mess at all. It was a whopping 10-foot python, coiled up and seemingly enjoying the porcelain spa treatment. Ten feet! That’s longer than most folks are tall, and it was taking up prime real estate in a toilet. I reckon Helen’s morning jolt was stronger than any cup of coffee she could’ve brewed. At that moment, she probably wished she had a sturdier tool than a typical toilet brush at hand.

Now, when you find a tenant like that, you don’t just ask it nicely to move along. No sir. Helen did the smart thing and called in the professionals. Enter Lana Kropf, a wildlife snake catcher, who arrived on the scene to tackle this rather unusual plumbing problem. Lana, with what I imagine was a calm demeanor despite the circumstances, managed to safely remove the large carpet python. You see, even in Australia, a 10-foot snake in the loo isn’t exactly an everyday occurrence, but it happens more often than you might think!

Lana explained that the big ol’ snake was likely just seeking a cool drink. It had been hot out, and a toilet bowl, for a reptile, is a pretty inviting watering hole. So, while it was a shocking discovery for Helen, the snake wasn’t there to cause trouble, just to beat the heat. Considering the snake was likely just looking for a cool drink due to the hot weather, maybe a personal cooling device would have been a more welcome guest.

The good news is, no one was harmed during this slithery surprise. Helen was safe, and the python got a free ride back to the wild, where it could find a more natural, and less alarming, spot to quench its thirst. It just goes to show you, folks, you never quite know what you’re gonna find lurking in the most unexpected places. Keeps life interesting, don’t it?
