Drive-Thru Delight: Man Tries to Pay for Burgers with *Unconventional* Green

Well now, howdy folks, I hope you’re all enjoying a peaceful moment wherever you’re tuning in from today.

You know, sometimes you hear tell about folks getting real creative when it comes to paying for things. Most of us, we just pull out a debit card, maybe some cash if we’re feeling old-fashioned, or even use one of those fancy phone apps nowadays. But every now and then, somebody comes along and tries a method that just makes you scratch your head and wonder, ‘Now, what in the tarnation was he thinking?’

That’s exactly what happened down in South Carolina recently, according to what I’ve been reading. Seems a 23-year-old fellow rolled up to a McDonald’s drive-thru, hankering for some grub, I reckon. Nothing too unusual there, happens a million times a day across this great land. But when it came time to settle up for his order, instead of reaching for a wallet, this gentleman apparently offered up a bag of marijuana.

Now, I’m no expert on fast-food payment policies, but I’m pretty sure ‘bag of green leafy substance’ ain’t on their list of accepted tender. You can just imagine the look on the poor McDonald’s employee’s face. I bet they’ve seen a lot of things in that drive-thru window, but that’s got to be a new one. Naturally, the authorities were called right quick. And as you might expect, this fella ended up being charged with possession of marijuana and, to top it all off, driving under the influence of drugs. Thankfully, the reports say no one was hurt, which is always a relief in these kinds of unusual situations.

It just goes to show you, folks, there’s a proper way to do things, and then there’s… well, *that*. It makes you think about how much things have changed, doesn’t it? Back in the day, if you needed something quick, you might head down to a place like Radio Shack for a quick battery or a gadget, and you certainly wouldn’t think of paying with anything but good old cash. (paid link) A lot simpler, I reckon. These days, there are all sorts of payment methods, but they all generally involve actual legal currency. For those of us who like a predictable transaction, like ordering a handy gadget or even some kitchen utensils for our home, we stick to the usual, accepted methods.

So, next time you’re heading through a drive-thru, just remember to double-check your pockets for your wallet, or your phone, or whatever modern contraption you use for payment. Leave the botanical bartering for folks who run a greenhouse, not a burger joint. It’ll save you a heap of trouble and keep the fries hot, too. Ain’t that the truth?

Stay safe out there, folks, and keep those stories coming my way. I’m Howe Weird, and that’s another one for the books.
